Brief Description of the organization: The CHCI experience places Latino youth on a new trajectory by inspiring high school and college completion, and then providing programs to explore public policy and leadership in our nation’s capital. These vital opportunities empower Latinos for great personal and professional achievement.

Brief Description of the Intern’s role or key qualifications: 

CHCI Interns learn firsthand about how the legislative system works, spending four days each week working on Capitol Hill. Usually, you are placed with a member of Congress who serves a district in your home state performing meaningful work: responding to constituent inquiries, writing policy briefs, conducting research for legislative aides, attending committee meetings and policy briefings. On Fridays, you will join your cohorts for a full day of leadership development centered on CHCI’s four Pillars of Leadership. During these weekly sessions, your participation in timely discussions of issues facing the Latino community will help you explore a variety of topics that face emerging leaders while building a strong relationships that you can rely on throughout your career.
